Some work is happening at Tandou, Bun has been working full-time while I've had a few days.  He's filling in for people that are away on holidays but I'm just working when there's "a tractor with my name on it"! 

 However that's okay because it means sometimes I get to sit under the awning and stitch for the afternoon like I did yesterday.  Tough job but someone's got to do it :)

I went for a long walk last week and took some photos along the way.

There's plenty of worse places we could be :)

Above photo was taken at the start of the working day and below was taken when there was still an hour and a half to go before knockoff time.

This is the rough stuff I was driving on and I swear I felt sea-sick by the end of the day, it really felt like I was standing on a boat :)

Some of us were hoping for a 'rain day' but we only got the rainbow!

No post would be complete these days without a photo of Kasiah!  Josh and Kara say that she's changing already.

We're off back to Winkie on Friday night and will return to Tandou after 2-3 weeks for the cotton planting season.

We're back at Tandou!

We got back to Winkie just on 4 weeks ago and to say that it's been busy would be an understatement.  One important occasion was Max (Sylvana and James puppy) turned 1!  Sylvana decided to hold an 'intimate' birthday party for him and we made the cut LOL

She made a sponge cake with jam and cream and cut it out so it looked like a bone and added squeaky toys for him hahaha

And he got fed some cake at the table!

We enjoyed lunch at Bracegirdle's on Jetty Rd at Glenelg after hearing of Kasiah's safe arrival.  It was delicious :)

It was while we were there that Bun got a phone call from Col at Tandou Farm, asking if we were able to come back sooner because he had people going away for a few weeks.  Bun had gone outside to talk on the phone and with trams going back and forth couldn't really hear Col too well (deafness is setting in I think) and he agreed that we could do the job, not realising that it was only 10 days away!  We had already arranged to spend the week in Adelaide because Ben was flying over.  Luckily Bun was able to get hold of a group of backpackers to help finish off the pruning because we weren't going to get through it all by ourselves.

With this photo, I said 'that's my girl, colour co-ordinating her dummy to her outfit already'!  Considering that Bun always said that he 'likes them when they can walk and talk' , he is now a big softie, remembering 'how cute and tiny they are' LOL  He can't get enough of the cuddles either hahaha

Although Ben's first day in Adelaide gave us miserable weather, we still managed to enjoy the day.  We started the day with breakfast with Josh and Kara and Ben was able to cuddle with Kasiah.  Lunch at Mawson Lakes and ending with takeaway at Callie's place with Paula, Justin, Allana, Chloe and Brayden.  It was lovely to catch up with them all.

 Sunday was much warmer and drier so we went down to West Beach for some putt-putt.  Ben triumphed and I was just happy to beat Bun's score :))  It was great to have some family time for the weekend!

After arriving home on Tuesday night, it was hectic for the next few days so that we would be ready to come to Tandou on Sunday.  I did find some 'me' time to quickly whip up a quilt for me!   I haven't ever really made one just for me and this is super-cosy with minkee fabric on one side. For those who haven't come across it before, it feels like very soft, fine velvet, perfect for snuggling under on a cold day.  I might use it today actually.  Yesterday was a lovely calm, warm day for towing the van up here. We brought the ute as well, just in case.  Bun has started work today but it may be a few days (or preferably weeks haha) before there's a tractor free for me LOL!  So I'm sitting back being the caravan-wife for now.   The cockatoos are swarming around outside the van making heaps of noise at the moment, they have nearly killed the trees around us since we were here last.  I'm glad we don't need the shade as much as we did in summer because there really isn't any!

I've gone shorter again with the hair as I figured it is going to be under a hat mostly for the next couple of months and to be honest it's a lot less hassle.  The biggest plus is that Bun doesn't think I'm a troll anymore hahahaha

We will be here for the next three weeks then home for a couple of weeks to some more work, then all being well, back here for another six weeks.  I am looking forward to November and December at home and really can't wait for my long weekend in Melbourne!

Callie is enrolled to study a Diploma of Advertising and a Diploma of Marketing, starting last week.  Many of the units are the same for both courses so it makes sense to get 2 Diplomas instead of one and she is going to do it online so that it is flexible for whenever she gets a job.  She attended an industy open day the other week and that helped as she is starting to find ways to network with people.

Ben is still waiting on hearing about a posting so fingers are still crossed there.

Josh and Kara are doing really well and Kasiah is growing quickly.  I think Josh will be sad about having to go back to work this week, he has really enjoyed the bonding time with Kasiah.  Hopefully they will all get plenty of sleep and settle into the new routine that comes with him returning to work.

Well, I've done the washing already and the blog, now it's time for me to get the sewing or knitting out and put my feet up for the day :))

Cuteness overload!!!

We are spending a few days in Adelaide with some very important people :))

Kasiah likes to pull her arms back up into her sleeves so in this photo her hands were actually on her chest!

I did some baking at Callie's on Thursday and Friday to please all the kids :)

Ben flew into Adelaide on Friday night and we went to Josh and Kara's for an early breakfast this morning so that Ben could meet his tiny niece.  It looks like Kasiah is giving her Uncle Ben a little smile.

Kasiah didn't really appreciate having to be stripped and dressed again but that's what happens when you wet through your whole outfit.

Cuddles for everyone this morning!!

Considering that Bun reckons babies are more fun when they're walking and talking, he has suddenly remembered how cute they are when they're tiny newborns :))  Talk about getting mushy hahaha.

WOW!!!

Kasiah Jayne Davis made everyone really happy when she arrived at 12.09pm today, 30th July, weighing 6lb 5oz.  We are so proud of Josh and Kara and so excited to welcome Kasiah to the family.

No doubt many more photos will follow in the next few weeks.  As Callie said, she is so tiny and perfect :))

Back in Winkie!

Weird looking cloud at Wee Waa!

We finished up at Wee Waa on 4th July and thoroughly enjoyed our time there.  We met some lovely people and were made to feel very welcome in such a short amount of time.  Robbie returned from Canada and said that she thought it was her best holiday ever!  For us, the job was a chance to do something different as well as enabling someone else to enjoy a break from their normal routine.  I think we succeeded on both counts!  If anyone is interested, the shop in Wee Waa is for sale and it's a great business :))

We came home a little quicker than originally planned as Callie had an appointment with a specialist in Adelaide to see about the whole gluten issue.  We arrived back on 9th July after staying in Bourke for 2 nights.  We spent the morning at the Mt Gundabooka National Park and while Bun made it to the top, I sat for a while and waited for him.  I only made it part way up (I'm claiming that the headcold and cough made it harder).  There was a party happening somewhere close to the caravan park on the Saturday night that had music going until at least 9am Sunday morning!  So things were really going off in Bourke haha.

We stayed in Cobar on Sunday night so that Bun could get the motorbike serviced at the Suzuki dealership on Monday morning and then we headed through Broken Hill and stayed beside the bridge at the Anabranch on the road to Wentworth.  With no power to run a heater, it was a very cold evening so we were in bed by 8.30pm.  Bun woke early and thought it would be a lot warmer in the truck so we were on the road by 4.45am!!  We stopped just this side of Lake Culluleraine to have some breakfast.  It was still dark and we could see our breath in the van!  It was 4.6deg in the van.

We spent one day at home, doing the washing, before heading to Adelaide.  We had a couple of nights at Callie and Steven's before a couple of nights with Josh and Kara.  Storm looks like she's praying towards Mecca!

Callie is still job-hunting but has applied to TafeSA to study a Diploma of Advertising or a Diploma of Marketing.  Hopefully she can get a place in one of those courses.

Bun has finished machine pruning the vines on both blocks and now we are doing the tidying up, walking up and down rows.  The weather has been pretty bloody cold and he reckons I look like an eskimo, rugged up in the mornings hahaha

We are keeping busy while we wait for bubs to arrive, only 10 days or so until the due date!!

Ben is flying into Adelaide at the end of next week for the weekend so hopefully he will get to meet his niece. We will spend a long weekend down there and will enjoy seeing all the kids together.  It doesn't happen very often these days.  

Bun spoke to one of the bosses at Tandou Farm last week so we will be heading back there for the cotton planting season.  It will be for about 6 weeks starting around mid-September.

I have a long weekend planned in Melbourne early in November, attending a stitching day with Naomi from Waikerie.  I'll catch up with Marg Johnson as well.  

We will probably be back in Winkie for a few weeks between working at Tandou and Christmas so hopefully we can pick up some casual work then.  The plan at the moment is to head west after the New Year but as we know, plans are subject to change :)
