A few more photos from Tangadee!

Joan is one of the owners and Jade is a backpacker from London who has been cooking at the neighbouring station and is now working on Tangadee.  They are about to start mustering there this weekend.

We had a stormy looking afternoon so that always leads to great sunsets.

When we were packing up to leave, Freckle and Margaret decided to jump on board!  They would have come with us quite happily I think :)

We went north via Marble Bar.  The road takes you through some beautiful country.

Redbull time as usual!!

Ali Halupka, did you know there's a place called Telfer??

Staying at Wallareenya Station gave us the chance to meet these two little characters, Curtis and Megan, along with their older brother Owen who must have been too busy for photos.  Curtis was so solemn!  I asked for a smile and he told me no.....I asked why not and he said because he didn't want to LOL!   In a way he reminded us of Ben when he was little, taking everything you said so literally and such a little 'straight man' haha

We spent most of a week doing gardening for Caz and Zane and were very happy that with their contracting business that there was a Cat loader to use for the cleanup.  I was also doing some baking for the freezer and cooking tea for up to 10 people each night.  Maybe we can use them as a reference for positions as station cook/gardener?  I'm sure we could lol.

We had a few hours at the cattle yards where they were loading up to move the newly mustered cattle down to one of the properties below Newman.

We spent a few more hours in Port Hedland, doing a tour of the BHP site and also a launch tour of the Harbour.  The Seafarer's Centre runs the launch around the harbour 6  times a day to pick up and drop off the guys from the container ships so that they can come ashore to shop and spend some time on land.

At the end of our time at Wallareenya, we had an overnight trip, finally using the rooftop camper that we bought in Albany.  We went south alongside the BHP rail line and came across a derailment.  It wasn't major, the first locomotive was just sitting at the wrong angle!  We heard on the UHF later that both lines had to be stopped which would have really buggered up their schedules.    We wandered along a lot of tracks and said later that we weren't lost, we just weren't really sure where we were LOL!  However we knew that we would eventually end up at a major road to the south, west or east. We had been on the station still for most of the day and came out onto the Marble Bar-Pt Hedland road.  We decided to go back to Marble Bar for a longer look around as we had just driven through really before that.

These were taken on the station looking towards the BHP rail line.

And just for Kate, we found some Sturt's Desert Pea!!

These are the pools at Marble Bar, who knew?!

As we headed west of Marble Bar, we came across a sign for Glen Herring Gorge and as we were looking for somewhere to camp, this fit the bill.

And the chef took over for breakfast :)

This was a beautiful spot and we thoroughly enjoyed our morning walk.

We left Wallareenya Station last Sunday and have stayed at Pardoo Station for a couple of nights where we saw this cute poddy calf!

Then a couple of nights at Eighty Mile Beach where we collected more shells for the beach wedding and met a lovely couple, Hilary and Garth.  They gave us a couple of tips of things to see in Broome as well as a recommendation for a hairdresser hahaha!
Although the hairdresser said that Bun had done a reasonable job on my hair, even Bun admitted that it was 'cut', not 'styled'!  So now my hair is the shortest I can ever remember and I don't really have to look in the mirror in the mornings :)

Probably won't need a hairdresser now until we get back at the end of the year LOL

We got to Broome on Thursday afternoon and are staying about 30 kms out of town at a caravan park that is on a property.  It means using the generator when necessary as it's all unpowered but the sites are big and it beats being squashed in at a park in town.  We also had massages yesterday so that found some sore spots :)   There was also shopping to be done.

This morning we plan to go to the Tourist Info place and line some 'touristy' things up for the next week.  Still deciding on whether to do a seaplane 1/2 day tour??  Also need to ring and book for a camel sunset ride :)    We haven't really done any really touristy things on this trip but I'm sure this week is going to make up for it!

In other news, Josh and Kara have settled back in well in Barmera and Kara was excited to start a new job this week.  She is doing a Dental Assistant Traineeship in Berri and although it will involve some long days, she is loving it already :)   Kasisah turned 1 on Wednesday!!  We are hoping to skype today and see the birthday cake cut at the party :))

Ben has finally heard that he has a posting!!  He will be moving back to Adelaide at the end of this year with a 3-year posting so he is very excited about that.  He's having a quiet weekend so that he can go to the snow on Thursday, making sure he gets his snowboarding in while he's still close I think :)

Callie (and Steven) are thinking that Boof needs to come home to us as he's costing them too much money at the vet's!!  The other week he managed to knock the lid off the bin holding the dry food and helped himself!   Unfortunately golden retrievers are hard-wired to eat until they can't eat any more.  Steven came home from work to find Boof crying and sitting in the wading pool (on a freezing day) because he was overheating and bloated.  One emergency trip to the vet later.....they had to help him vomit 3 times and told Callie that if he'd been left a couple more hours, the dry food would have expanded and it could have been serious enough to kill him!!   He's such a naughty boy!!

Anyway we are off into Broome now so that's all folks!
Cheers
Anne
